The New Legacy Cultural Center (NLCC) Lunar New Year Cultural Tour is an educational and community-building program that brings the joy and traditions of the Lunar New Year directly to Lexington Public Schools. Through collaboration with the World Language Department, Performing Arts Department, and local educators, the tour features student-led performances, including dragon dances, traditional music instrument tryouts, cultural showcases, and interactive presentations.
Clarke Middle school Mandarin students travel to their feeder elementary schools to perform and celebrate with younger students, promoting cross-grade mentorship and cultural exchange. The program fosters cultural appreciation, school pride, and community unity, while giving students meaningful opportunities to share their heritage and artistic talents.
Since its launch, the NLCC Lunar New Year Cultural Tour has been warmly received by students, teachers, and families, serving as a vibrant example of Lexington’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cross-cultural understanding.
